Coming up with a list of DC comic book characters who would excel at gambling was by no means as easy as was the case with Marvel and, well, we’re not entirely sure why. Perhaps it’s because we find it harder to imagine these individuals in real life — be it at a poker table or anywhere else.
The very best DC comic book characters stand out from the crowd; they feel as real as any of their Marvel counterparts. These “exemplary” ones, however, are not great in number. It’s no coincidence that Marvel had such an easy time in bringing their most popular heroes “to life.”
DC, on the other hand, are still struggling to create a cinematic universe worthy of mentioning. A few brilliant home runs are by no means enough to compete with what Marvel has to offer.
Be that as it may, we’ve tried our hardest to come up with a Top 10 list worthy of your time and attention! Down below you’ll find a slew of DC comic book characters we think would excel at gambling and all that it entails!
The fastest human alive would surely benefit greatly from his one-of-a-kind superpower. It’s not as effective in a game of poker as, say, a huge intellect, but it’s not half-bad either. His ability to control the “slowness of molecular vibrations” can and most certainly would come in handy — at least in person.
Online gambling is a whole different beast and, sadly, his speedy nature wouldn’t be of much use in that kind of setting.
One of the founding members of the original Justice League and also one of the most powerful beings the DC Universe has to offer. Gamling, for a guy like that, would be a trifle challenge! His powers are plentiful: superhuman strength, shapeshifting, invisibility, telekinesis, telepathy, and so on.
A MAN OF MANY ABILITIES
If you can think it, odds are, Martian Manhunter can do it. A laundry list of superpowers like that would no doubt result in the biggest winnings imaginable!
The world’s greatest detective and a guy who broods with more frequency and intensity than any other comic book hero we know of. A guy like Bruce Wayne, being as cunning and socially adept as he is, would surely excel in all forms of gambling that one might partake in!
A guy imbued with a “genius-level” intellect. He’s also an expert tactician, standout manipulator, master con artist, skilled detective, and a wielder of an immense amount of knowledge on all things occult.
John Constantine is a guy you really wouldn’t want to double-cross or compete against!
Yet another DC comic book character that is submerged in the world of magic, immortality, telekinesis, telepathy, and everything in between. He, too, was one of the founding members of the Justice League, and with a resume like that, we’d find it mighty hard if he couldn’t handle a game of Texas Hold’em with ease!
Superhuman knowledge, superhuman strength, superhuman speed, superhuman endurance. That’s about as good a list of superpowers as it gets! And, needless to say, they would all serve as a boon to Brainiac should he ever decide to try his luck in, say, a game of Blackjack!
The Entire Cast of Watchmen
Here’s a ragtag group of outcasts, all of whom would surely dominate and excel at all forms of gambling! They’d win through entirely different means, too, which only makes them that much harder to predict and fully prepare for!
AN ABSOLUTE GEM
They’re all endlessly idiosyncratic and, well, crazy, but that’s also a big part of their allure and the reason why they’ve stood the test of time. Alan Moore brought this masterpiece to life almost thirty years ago and yet the source material feels as fresh as ever.
A masterpiece, without a doubt.
Superman’s biggest adversary doesn’t have any real superpowers other than a genius-level intellect. He can’t jump over buildings, move faster than a bullet, or decimate entire neighborhoods with his bare hands.
What he does have, however, is a fortune big enough to last him multiple lifetimes and an ego larger than any building in Metropolis. He wouldn’t, therefore, gamble out of any financial need but rather for the thrill that comes hand-in-hand with winning.
