Carlisle Place 6 betting preview | 9th August

17.10 – AJA Novice Flat Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap – 1m3f

JUST HISS took advantage of a reduced mark at Newcastle back in June and backed that up with a good second at Beverley since. He has leading claims again, while MILLTOWN LILY was a couple of places behind the former last time but is better off at the weights here and should be able to bridge the gap with the return to this longer trip looking favourable.

Selections: JUST HISS, MILLTOWN LILY

17.40 – Watch Racing TV Now EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (GBB Race) – 5f

CRIME FICTION shaped with considerable promise when making good late headway into fifth on her Beverley debut and, with progress on the cards, she’s a leading player. ONE OF YOUR OWN has improved with each start and has made the frame in her last two starts. She could be tough to catch under Phil Dennis if allowed a freebie on the front-end.

Selections: CRIME FICTION, ONE OF YOUR OWN

18.15 – Join Racing TV Now Handicap – 5f

GOLDEN RAINBOW should be well-suited to the drop back to this distance, who was second over this trip twice last year, including when narrowly denied by Adaay In Asia, whom he was giving over a stone to in weight. The winner subsequently completed a hat-trick at Ascot off a mark of 88, so he’s evidently well-treated off 66 here. That is the best form on offer in this race and, on the back of a good front-running fourth of 16 at Redcar last time, where he was only collared in the final 100 yards, he might be able to dictate matters in this easier race back over six.

Selections: GOLDEN RAINBOW

18.50 – Racing TV Handicap – 5f

A chance is taken on the Iain Jardine-trained NEVER DARK, who is now six pounds lower than when giving weight and a beating to Ventura Flame at Musselburgh last October. All of his three career wins have been off higher marks than today’s and he is nicely treated at the weights in this event. If able to get a good start from stall nine, he could surprise a few at huge odds. He could easily bounce back and win this wide-open race.

Selections: NEVER DARK

19.25 – Every Race Live On Racing TV Handicap – 7f

DETECTIVE has a phenomenal record at this course and this four-time C&D winner ran another solid race when second here just eight days ago. He fared best of those who were drawn low and essentially can compete in this race off the exact same mark as last time. With form figures of 22122 over this trip and with conditions to suit, he looks poised to go close.

Selections: DETECTIVE

20.00 – Cockermouth Maiden Handicap – 6f

HARDY could never get competitive at Doncaster last time in a higher grade event but ran a good race in this grade on his penultimate start at Beverley when fourth and is a pound lower this time round. He has now reached the frame four times off higher marks over this trip, so with a good three-pounds claimer booked to ride, he should be thereabouts.

Selections: HARDY
